Application Settings

Temperature: 375˚F

 Time: 7 Seconds

Pressure: Max (8-9 Manual, 60PSI Automatic)

Recommended for: 100% Cotton, Cotton/Poly Blends

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Adjust settings
Set the timer to 7 seconds and the temperature to 375˚F depending on the garment you will be pressing. Adjust the pressure to max/heavy or 60PSI.

Step 2: Pre-Press
Pre-press your garment for 3 seconds to remove all moisture before applying. Ensure all Teflon sheets or heat press covers are removed.

Step 3: Load garment and place the transfer
Lay the garment down on the lower platen, smoothing out wrinkles. Place the transfer print-side down.

Step 4: Press the transfer
Press the transfer for 7 seconds. Once the timer is complete, immediately grab a corner and peel diagonally in a smooth, deliberate motion.

Tips & Tricks

  • Applying vintage can be challenging for beginners. Because it requires such high heat, we often hear from newbies that it's a difficult transfer to apply. But don't worry! With a little tweaking, vintage can be just as easy as Varsity. Just be sure that you have the correct settings. If your press says it's 375˚ and you're still having trouble, get a heat gun or heat strips to check that your press really is getting as hot as it needs to.
  • Remove Teflon Sheets, Covers, or Pillows: If experiencing scorching, use a Teflon sheet to protect the garment. Always run a wash test before full production when using a Teflon sheet.

  • Pre-Press Your Garment: Pre-press for 3 seconds to remove moisture before applying.

  • Positioning for Even Application: Ensure any zippers, seams, or buttons are off the edge of the platen for even application.

  • Use a Pressing Pillow When Necessary: If encountering unavoidable seams or zippers, use a pressing pillow to raise the pressing area. Increase dwell time by 3-5 seconds to compensate for possible deflation in the pillow.

  • Large Coverage Designs: For designs with a large area of coverage, consider increasing heat and pressure to ensure consistent application.

Use a Commercial Heat Press

Not sure which one to get? Click here to read more about the presses we love and recommend.

If you own a heat press which is not one of our recommended brands, you can try these steps:

  1. Increase your temperature +10°
  2. Use the Maximum pressure your machine will allow

Cricut® Easy Press and other low-end Amazon presses aren't built to provide the required pressure needed to apply our transfers correctly. We strongly do not recommend using these types of presses.

Wash & Care Instructions

For long lasting transfers, we recommend washing inside out with cold water. Line dry is strongly recommended, but who really has time for that? Tumble dry with low heat works great too.

We recommend laying the newly applied garments out for about 24 - 48 hours to allow the garment to completely cure before folding or washing.
